How does he do it so fast?

When people used to tell me how fast babies grow, I never believed them. Andrew is only 16 weeks and I can't believe some of the things he's doing. He is almost sitting up with no assistance. He's also reaching for things to play with. My favorite is how much fun he's having in his Exosaucer. It's crazy to think that 16 weeks ago he was just a sleepy little 7 lb nugget in my arms. Now all he wants is to be sitting up and barely has the time to cuddle with my Mama. But it is fun to watch him grow, even if I think it's happening too fast!

My favorite moment of my day is the moment I hear him on the monitor in the morning. As ridiculous as that sounds, I love it because I know that when I go into his room and look into his crib, he will let his eyes adjust and when he notices it's me, a HUGE smile spreads across his face and he gets giddy. Now that's love at 6:00am! Our days have been long now that it's colder. We do try to get out at least once a day. Earlier this week it was BEAUTIFUL out (almost 60 degrees) so I took Andrew to Annie's Playground and we walked around and around. The playground is at the end of the Ma&Pa trail which is a beautiful train that goes through the woods, past cornfields, and finally to the playground. In the Spring and Summer I'm looking forward to walking the entire trail - maybe Marty can even join us if he's good. :)

This week Andrew and I went to visit Pete at his high school. It was a teacher workday, so there were no crazy HS kids around. His teacher friends oogled over Andrew for a good two hours. Eventually he passed out from the excitement!

This weekend Grandma and Grandpa are coming down to visit! We have a lot of visitors coming in the next few weeks and we're also hoping to see Aidan and his family too. I've been looking into a fun weekend in Cape May in May or June. I want to have a destination that we can return to year after year. I love Cape May because it has the beach, boardwalk, zoo, and cute little shops and restaurants - plus it's charm! We are hoping to get down to Virginia Beach to visit Pete's aunt over his Spring Break also. Hopefully that will include a trip to Williamsburg!

That is all for now. Andrew's 4 month appointment is Feb. 10th. He'll be getting the rest of his shots. Eek! He always handles them better than I do, though. I can't wait to see how big he is now!

Back to work

Well, technically I'm on maternity leave until August, but my husband went back to work today which meant all my duties were back on me. I hate to say it, but I actually enjoyed being back on schedule with my little guy. I loved having Pete home, but there is something peaceful about just having the day to myself.

We had a lot of errands to run today, and little guy was great. He was awake for most of the trip in Target and I fed him his lunch bottle in the eatery, where I met a very nice woman. She shared with me that she just had her second grandaughter. We talked for a good 30 minutes. It was nice to talk to someone. Then we bundled up and went to the post office, library, bank and finally Office Depot. I'm trying to find a briefcase for my husband for his birthday this Saturday. I should have looked sooner online, but I just came up with the idea this morning when I noticed that all of his school papers were scattered everywhere. I'm going to hit Staples tomorrow and possibly Sears. If I find nothing, I'll order the one I saw on JCP.com.

Hoping the winter goes by quickly so we can get out of the house more!

About Mommy. . .before she was Mommy.

I will never forget the day I found out about my little man. And the reason I'll never forget it is because I started a blog last year at that time. Unfortunately, work got busy and I got more pregnant and tired so I did not keep up with it, but thought I'd repost that post because it makes me smile:

Sunday, January 30, 2011Baby?
Thursday started out as any normal day would. We got a phone call from the county telling us schools were closed due to the weather and we both happily rolled over and went back to sleep. I spent most of the day lounging around watching HGTV. I had falled into a good two hours of 'A Baby Story' and 'Bringing Home Baby' when I ventured to the bathroom and, on a whim, decided to take a test I had been storing for future use. I expected to see the one, dark control line and after 5 minutes, throw the test away and continue with my day off. So when a second line started to slowly appear, I had to look twice. It was definitely faint but definitely there. So I scrambled for the directions from the book and my hands were shaking. Finally, I called my hubby upstairs to get his opinion. I did not tell him I had even purchased these tests so I told him as he made his way up the stairs. When I asked him what he saw on the screen, he said he saw two lines. We both were still not convinced so with that, my husband dug out the car and I headed to Walgreens. With two more confirmations (and then one the following morning) we were pretty convinced this was the real thing!

My first doctor's appointment is not until February 23rd, since that will be my 7th week. I was surprised by that but apparently 4 positives are good enough evidence. We have been trying to keep our cool thus far, since it is SUPER early and we don't want to fall into a disappointment is anything happens. I do not feel pregnant, although I do feel a little more tired than usual.

The next 5 days are going to be incredibly difficult, since we are heading to NJ on Saturday morning to share the news with both sets of grandparents. I cannot imagine my mom's reaction. . . it will be priceless.

Happy New Year, Happy New Blog!

Last October my life changed forever. After teaching for 6 years, I took on a new job - stay at home Mom. I am so lucky and fortunate that I will be staying home with my little man until August. I won't lie, it was difficult these past 3 months falling into a groove and accepting my new title. I often miss the daily business of teaching and mostly the social aspect. But my goal for these next 8 months is to enjoy every minute, chronicle every event, and appreciate the time I have. Thanks for reading and I hope you follow us on our journey together.
